The Sunshine Tour
is an exciting Series in the South-East featuring unaffiliated
dressage, show jumping and showing championships. If you enjoy taking
part in dressage, or show jumping or fancy having a go at showing,
then this fun Championship Series is for you. There are chances
to qualify at show centres, Riding Clubs and Pony Clubs in Surrey,
Sussex, Kent, Hampshire, Middlesex, Isle of Wight, London, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Essex and Hertfordshire.
Qualifying Centres. The
Championship Show will be held at Great Bookham Equestrian Centre on
26 & 27 September 2009. There's a wide variety of championship classes to
qualify for, including sections for novices and 'competitive' riders and a further "Champion of Champions" awards, with BIG prizes like a free holiday, brand new saddle, GPA riding hat, year's worth of free competition entries. |

Sunshine Tour 2009 For
Dressage riders competing at a ‘Sunshine Tour’ show in
an unaffiliated Intro (walk & trot), Prelim, Novice or Elementary test,
being placed 1st-6th in a Sunshine Tour
qualifying class will earn you a chance to ride in the Championship.
There are classes at the championship weekend on 26 &27 September 2009 for both 'novices' and 'competitive' riders, giving everyone a chance to win a coveted Sunshine Tour sash, trophy, embroidered rug, jacket or saddle cloth.
Saturday 26 September is 'novice' day with the restricted classes and Intro and Prelim sections. Sunday 27 September is 'open' day and championships in Novice and Elementary.
Show jumping riders can compete in qualifiers from 1’6” to 3’/3'3" which gives novice and expereinced competitors their own championship class to aim for. So whether you’re just starting or already accomplished there are plenty of opportunities to qualify for the Championship and win fantastic prizes donated by saddlers, feed merchants, tack shops, equine practitioners, equine and rider clothing companies, to name just a few. 1st-6th qualify (must be clear in 1st round). Saturday 26 September is 'novices' day for less experienced competitors and Sunday 27 September will see some fast and furious rounds from competitive riders vieing for Sunshine Tour Champion of Champion awards.
Riders who like to dabble in a bit of Showing are
also welcomed in the Sunshine Tour Championship. There are sections
for non-jumping classes such as Best Rider, Best Show Pony, First
Pony, Novice Cobs and for classes that involve some jumping such as
Riding Club Horse, Pony Club Pony, Family Pony, Novice Working Pony
or Cob and in-hand classes such as Handsomest Gelding, Prettiest
Mare and Lead Rein riding classes for juniors and so on…… Ask your local show centre or riding/pony club if
they have any Sunshine Tour classes and if not, why not!!! The championship series will be reported in the horsey press throughout the year and the Championship will have extensive coverage. GENERAL RULES Just to help you here are a few basic rules and regulations: You need to register your qualification within 2 weeks either by posting your qualification card or registering online, latest by 7 September 2009. Closing date for championship entries Friday 18 September 2009. We reserve the right to refuse late entries. ABSOLUTELY NO SUBSTITUTION OF HORSE OR RIDER ALLOWED. Horses and riders must comply with the restrictions of their class on the day of the Championship, regarding membership of societies, prize money won or points earned. See 'restrictions' information above.
Dressage tests are judged under BD rules.
